South Carolina Home Exterior Dressed for Christmas

 HAPPY FRIDAY!
Just a quick post to say Merry Christmas from South Carolina.
A wreath in every window is the way in the South and we were happy to oblige the trandition.
It's always been a favorite look of mine.
The porch is a bit dressed for Christmas.
I hope to do much more next year.
It's such a beautiful porch and I feel like I'm not doing it justice yet.
But I'll get there.

I wish I could get a good picture at night so you can see the candle in every window.
I'm just not that good of a photographer.

Merry Christmas y'all!
May Christ's spirit fill your heart and fill your home.
I'll catch you on the flip side, in 2017 with more reveals of rooms we have redone
as we work to 'make this place our home.'
Peace and love.

So the Master Bedroom is Blue

I wanted my master bedroom to be a beautiful gray.
I bought 7, S-E-V-E-N, different shades of gray and painted them on the wall.
I would pick one I thought was perfect but when I started painting a bigger area it would turn purple...
or almost black...
or blue.
I gave up.

Holiday Dining

HAPPY FIRST MONDAY OF DECEMBER!
HOPE YOU HAD A WONDERFUL WEEKEND.
We sure enjoyed our first South Carolina December Weekend.
Short post today to show you the dining room.
 The tablescape is pretty simple.
Magnolia leaves, pine cones, natural fibers of wood, and Shagbark nuts...
(yes I had to look that up, it's a type of hickory nut).
 and splashes of silver.

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

HAPPY FRIDAY!
HAPPY FIRST WEEKEND OF DECEMBER!

I'm so excited to share my home dressed for Christmas with you!
 I took SO many pictures...
I'll probably have to share all of this with you over the next few days.
Dressing the large livingroom was as much fun as it was therapeutic.
I was so excited that my two older kids were here from college to help pick out and decorate the tree.

Dining Room Update

One of the first rooms we updated was the formal dining room.
This is how it looked when we walked through:
And, with just a few changes, this is how it looks now:
Formal dining rooms really are in many ways a waste of space these days.
But I'm secretly tickled to have somewhere to display the farm table I made.

South Carolina Home Tour Begins

Wow! If you are still with me after that last post
 {aka: hemorrhage of the soul}
I sure appreciate it!
From now on, it will be back to my original format.
Lots of pictures,
few words.
Beginning the official home tour of our new home in South Carolina...
now:
The Living Room
Our 'new' home is almost 20 years old.
There is very little new construction in the little country town we live in.
Most homes are about 15 years old or older.
We picked the home that we felt had the best 'bones' but knew we would have work to do.
The previous owners were the original owners...
this is what it looked like when we toured it during our house hunting trip:
Sorry the pictures aren't great, they were quick pics on my phone.

And this is what it looks like now:

Goodbyes and Hello

Hard to believe my last post was in January 2016.
We will blink and it will be January 2017.
Not going to lie, on New Year's Eve I will probably be bidding 'good riddance' to 2016.
It was quite a year.
What did not happen in the blink of an eye has been the last 9 months.
At times it clipped along and at others it crawled at a snails' pace.
I know you come here mostly to see pictures and maybe glean an idea or two for your own space.
I hope you will indulge me for a minute, or two, so I can explain how my space has changed.
And by space, I mean ALL my space.
My home.
My city.
My state.
My world.
I don't write much about my personal life on this blog. Again, I know why you come here.
Pictures.
An idea or two.
I'm sorry you might have come here over the last 9 months and not found much of either.
Our life was a little crazy.
And now you'll understand why.

Warm Winter Wishes

 Yes.
I had to title this post Warm Winter Wishes cause I missed Christmas entirely.
I didn't miss it, miss it...

We actually had an amazing Christmas in the snow at my parent's cabin in the woods.
