French Inspired

My daughter and I leave for Paris in just over a week so I have Paris on the brain. When my friend gave me some kitchen stools I knew immediately I wanted to put a French graphic on them. I headed over to The Graphics Fairy who is always my go to woman for these things. I found this and L-O-V-E-D it:
I cut it out in vinyl to use as a stencil and used FolkArt Medium Gray #425 to paint over it. This was the result:

This will be available at the Amy and Amber Basement Boutique this Saturday, doors open at 10:00 am!

Spring Mantel

I know I promised nothing but Basement Boutique peeks from here until Saturday but I had to take a time out from all the preparations to post my Spring Mantel pics. It keeps snowing here {crazy} but the sun shined for just enough time today to catch a little Spring fever! Simple is the name of the game for great design {at least in my book} and so I tried to keep that in mind putting together my spring mantel.
I used different hues of green to bring the feeling of spring.
I love words, letters, numbers...always a part of my design plan.
Thought about pulling in real foliage but right now there is just not much looking pretty out there.
Happy Spring!

Basement Boutique-Just a week away!

Just a quick post today to remind everyone to put next Saturday, March 24th on their calendar. It is the date of the next Amy and Amber Design Basement Boutique!
Amy is the professional when it comes to furniture refurnishing and repurposing {I just play one on my blog!} so I wanted to show you a picture of a piece she will have at the boutique.
Isn't it amazing! Can't wait to see who the lucky lady is that walks out the door with this. We are both working on several pieces that will be available as well as other home decorating elements such as pillows, canvas, wall art, mirrors, seasonal decorations and more! Remember, doors open at 10:00 am!

Inspired Canvas-Amy and Amber Basement Boutique Sneak Peek

Starting today through March 24th all of my posts will feature items that will be available at the Amy and Amber Basement Boutique. Doors open at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 24th. Click on the Basement Boutiques link at the top of my blog for full details.
I begin with these sweet canvas art pieces. No vinyl here, lettering is painted on and detailed with antique edging around the canvas. Lightweight canvas makes these easy to display anywhere. What room will you be inspired in?

Sweater Socks

I can be a bit behind the eight ball regarding fashion. The 'sock above the boot' is a darling trend and now that spring is almost here and boots will soon be packed away for another year...I am finally coming around. {And if I am being honest, I probably still wouldn't be but my 17 year old daughter helps push me along.} I did a little looking online and did not want to pay the $15-20 price tag per pair. So, I turned to Pinterest where I always find amazing people with amazing idea, and it did not disappoint.
I headed to Goodwill and found four sweaters {and since it was their 50% off sale} I got them for $3.
I cut the arms off the sweaters and slipped them on over my socks and jeans.
And no one is the wiser that I didn't pay $20 for them...well I guess now they are. Oh, and it is really hard to take pictures of your own legs!
