I Love My Place Among the Pines

It would feel odd to say welcome to {pineplace} as it has been around for nine years this month. It was a bit over nine years ago that my desire to express my favorite quotes, scriptures and whimsical thoughts as part of my home decor took hold. I did not dream it would turn into what it has.  I will admit my friends' reaction when they saw what I was doing took me by surprise. It soon became clear there was a need for them to be able to express their love, devotion and beliefs in their own homes as well. A business was born. I live among the pine trees and love the beauty that surrounds me, in other words, I love my place among the pines.  So let's say welcome to the {pineplace} blog.
Design blogs and DIY blogs are everywhere and I ohh and ahh and ga ga with the best of them when I see these amazingly talented folks. They intrigue, inspire and let's be honest...at times overwhelm me. Do you get that ache inside you? The one where you know your home could look just like that too if you had a little more desire [but who has the time], a little more direction or a little more fire under your...anyway, I think you know the feeling I am describing. My purpose in starting this blog is to bridge the gap. I hope to bring you inspiration when you are having a roll up your sleeves, light your own fire, bring yourself the satisfaction of doing it yourself kind of day. And on the other days, I hope to still inspire you but lessen the burden [and the ache] by offering some of the products you see for purchase over at my website www.pineplace.com [but don't look yet, it is undergoing a major facelift]. There it is. That is my goal, spoken out loud [well, written anyway]. So, lets get started...while we are waiting for the pesky little detail of the website going live...a few images to wet your whistle...

Home is not a place...it is a feeling...

One of, if not my most, favorite sayings. Became even more meaningful to me when I was able to put it up in a friend's temporary home where they are living for a year while their home is being rebuilt after losing the original to fire.

Adore God. Reverence and cherish your parents. Love your neighbor as yourself, and your country more than yourself. Be just. Be true. Murmur not at the way of Providence. So shall the life into which you have entered be the portal to one of eternal and ineffable bliss. Thomas Jefferson
Don't know what 'ineffable' means? Look it up...cool word, why don't we use it anymore? I think I'll start...

This is my master bedroom, wait until you see what I did to the furniture...

Don't worry, it will be more than just lettering, oh so much more, we are just getting started...
