Christmas 2014 and a House Walk Link Party

Welcome to our Christmas 2014 Home!
Just like last year, I am linking this up to Jennifer Rizzo's Link Party. If you missed the house walk, where amazing bloggers show off their Christmas homes you can check it out by clicking HERE.
Christmas came early this year when we had our carpet in the front room and dining room replaced with hardwood. Original honey oak (eww) hardwood throughout the entry, hallway, kitchen and powder room was sanded down and all the hardwood was refinished in ebony with a matte finish. I am IN LOVE with my new floors, I could not be happier with how they turned out. And it made dressing the house for Christmas oh, so fun.

...Now We Have Everything-New Item in My Etsy Shop

Some of my projects are not my own ideas...I know, shocking.
This one was created off a request from someone who visited my etsy shop.
I love the message.
How you built your family.
So I made one for us...
Which had to replace the 'chevron grateful' piece on my newly arranged living room wall
Because someone purchased this one right off my wall!

Master Bedroom Make Over

It's so funny when we look back and see how things used to be in our home...
and have that 'what was I thinking' moment.
Our bedroom when we first moved in was nothing like what I would do now.
I painted my bed white.
It's been well established how I feel about this color, or lack of...
Like I tend to do, I spent hours pouring through websites and actual store isles looking for a white bedroom set. Almost bought a full bedroom set, on two different occasions...would have been out a few thousand dollars...do you feel a theme here...this is definitely my mode of operation. As evidenced by my experience creating our office and redoing the boys room. When will I learn to skip the hours of internet searching and walking the isles of brick and mortar stores?

Labor of Love?

A couple weeks ago when I revealed the boy's new room, I told you I couldn't wait to tell you what was in this cabinet.
I love this cabinet, we  bought it years ago at a discount store. I didn't think it would last (discount store) but I loved how it looked.
It has actually held up very well over the years and has been used all over the house. But what we have done with it lately is my favorite!

Dining Room Freshen Up

Haven't done a lot since I debuted our Americana Dining Room
I changed out the chair in the corner and draped a flag I tea stained.
Added a 1776 canvas above the vintage cabinet.
Placed the white poinsettias and music paper trees for Christmas, and have not wanted to take them down. Love how they look.

Though She Be But Little...

There is a popular saying I've seen in nurseries and even on charm bracelets lately...even though it's been around since...well, Shakespeare...
 literally...from A Midsummer's Night Dream.

Laundry Room

Faith, family, friends, laundry...some things have no end.
I thought this was a cute saying...over five years ago, when we first moved into our home.
I also had some fun daisies 'growing' out of the counter, but forgot to take the pic before they were removed.
It was ALL I had done to our laundry room in over 5 years. Time to fix that.
My laundry room is a throughway to the garage, so pretty narrow and this large wall needs to be used for more than just holding up some vinyl.

Faux Wood Bookshelves-How To

So after my last post, my sister asked me how I did the bookshelves in the boy's rooms.
I thought I would share with everyone.
It is so easy, and so super quick, it's going to make you cry...just a little bit.

It took me, are you ready: about 5 minutes.
It was as simple as wrapping a present.

Boy's Bedroom: Update to Jackson's Headboard

You may remember Jackson's headboard I did a couple of year's ago.

This project has actually gotten quite a bit of attention that I will be sharing that with you soon.
Right now I wanted to share with you how I have updated the room. Making Carson's room into the home office it was meant to be means the two youngest boys need to share a room. Which works out great, because they are best buddies and ended up sleeping in each others' rooms anyway.
I actually spent several weeks right after Christmas scouring for ideas for little boys rooms. I was all set to spend hundreds (ok it was topping thousands of dollars) to buy two new beds, bedding, decorations, ...Restoration Hardware can be very convincing. I loved the ideas I saw on their website, but in the end, I could not give up Jackson's headboard. I was still too in love with it. Still, this did not solve my dilemma that Carson needed a bed too.
